The grand myth of environmentalism is that it's all about saving the Earth. It's not. The Earth will be just fine. Environmentalism is all about saving ourselves.

I just finished Light Years in time to think about switching from incandescent to fluorescent bulbs and actually understand why fluorescent bulbs are better for the environment. Let me show you: The short of it is that the majority of the light produced by an incandescent bulb is not in the visible spectrum so there's tremendous energy waste vs. a fluorescent bulb which produces the same amount of visible light. Less wasted energy = better for the environment. \o/ Yes, yes, yes. It's the same thing I can learn on wikipedia but that's why it's the short of it.

It's 8:30pm and I'm thinking about going to bed so I can get up early, early and run. I blame carta, cranberryink and unspoken PEER PRESSURE.

What else? I love my cat more than a girl should maybe love her cat but Sally is the cutest thing on four legs and makes my heart swell every time she curls up on my lap.

PS. [livejournal.com profile] carta - When do you want to start s1 of Babylon 5? I've never watched a show with someone, long distance. How do we do this?
