It all went something like this: 4 1/2 hour meeting on Wednesday from 1pm- 5:30pm followed by dinner and drinks with two friends. (These guys are awesome. We can laugh and drink and talk about our dream super powers and our favorite planet and the likelihood of a multiverse vs. a universe and the relative merits of BSG vs. SGA. Plus they're adorable. *loves*)
ANYWAY.
It stormed like crazy while we were at dinner with sideways rain and falling trees and I got home to no power. It was 9:30 so I just set the alarm on my phone and went to bed. Sally, however, had some kind of storm phobia and woke me up at 3am just in time to puke all over my bed. Poor thing. So I slept pretty poorly after that and, at 5:30am, decided to get up and just get ready for work. I show up at work at 6:30am ready to be all productive but there's no power there either. :/ Two colleagues and I hit up I-Hop in the hopes power would come on by 8am but, at 8:15am, the hotline was updated with a message not to come in for the day.
There was still work to do and a conf. call at 1pm so a friend put me up for a few hours and we ate and checked our blackberries obsessively and took the conf. call before I finally came home for a nap and a run and then returned to my friends house for margaritas and homemade pizza and to prep for today's 4th of July bbq.
I have power now. Obviously.
I woke up early to deal with the weeds eating the front path to my house and now I'm waiting for a friend to show up for a hike. Then it's off to an afternoon bbq. Happy 4th!
PS.
beatpropx! I'm on lecture 8 of "A History of Egypt" and I love it. The lecture series is great for my runs and gardening and, every time I stop, I can't wait to get back to it. Many thanks!
