• We had a huge storm two nights ago that, at 1am, sounded like trouble. When I woke up, I found a window popped out and sitting on my lawn (thank goodness for double windows) and I had no internet or cable. Got home last night and I still had no internet or cable and I won't until, at least, sometime on Friday night after my cable appointment. I don't envy the poor guy who's going to have to climb up in my wires in this weather.

What I learned last night, though, is how dependent I am on my television/internet combo. (Really it's the internet but my tv would have been a great back up.) I read my fair share but I'm used to settling in with lj or fic on weeknights before bed. Instead, I settled into bed at 8pm with Hyperion and was asleep before 9pm. I envision the same pattern tonight. Kind of nice, actually, but I'd prefer that it was by choice.

  • So I got 9+ hours of sleep last night and still woke up tired which, I'm convinced, is because it's pitch black at 6am (and still pitch black at 7am). We're on the western most part of the eastern time zone which is awesome because it stays light later but the sun also rises later here than in NY. I think I'm going to investigate one of those alarm clocks that has a light function so, when I open my eyes in the morning, the room is bright.

    Hahahahaha.

I have a 7:30am meeting tomorrow and we're expecting 10- 12 inches of snow tonight.

I will be in bed by 9pm tonight so I can get up at 5am and dig myself out.

[livejournal.com profile] kiffle - If I continue to bitch about the weather and the MOUNTAINS OF SNOW, please feel free to kick me in the ass and remind me that I moved here ON PURPOSE. That's what I get for taking a relocation trip to Michigan in June.

Here's where I need help/advice: Is the best winter storm strategy to leave my car in my driveway so I don't have as much snow to shovel? It will still build up on my car and I worry that my doors will freeze shut but it will cut back on the square feet I need to shovel in the dark in the morning. Do any winter storm area residents have a specific point of view?
